Midwest Region Takes 10 Titles at US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup, presented by adidas
Teams from US Youth Soccer’s Midwest Region departed the US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup with ten titles in various boys and girls age groups. 
 
Leading the way for the Midwest Region were teams from the host state of Indiana with five Director’s Cup Championships and three teams finishing as runners-up. 
 
Lawrence Mayor Deborah Cantwell witnessed some of the championship play and assisted in awarding championship medals to several of the teams.  “We are very proud of these athletes and their dedication to soccer,” said Cantwell.  “Lawrence continues to provide first-class facilities for first-class events such as the US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup, presented by adidas.  Congratulations to all who represent your state and region with such pride.”

Teams Battle for Cup on Second Day of US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup, presented by adidas


Clear blue skies set the stage for a great second day of play at the US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup at the Lawrence Soccer Complex.  Over 50 teams were in action, positioning for Sunday’s finals as round robin play continued under near perfect conditions. 
 
While most teams spent the day positioning for a shot at the Director’s Cup finals, Vista Hotshots made the most of their trip from Virginia by clinching a US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup Championship in the Under-14 Girls with a 3-0 record through today’s round robin play.  Braddock Road, also from Virginia and 3-0, will play for the Director’s Cup Championship against Medford Strikers (NJ) in the Under-17 Girls Premier Division.

Early morning mist turned to afternoon showers as teams opened competition on the first day of the US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup, presented by adidas, at the Lawrence Soccer Complex.
 
Demonstrating the competitiveness in the field of over 50 teams present this weekend, five games today ended in ties while eight games were decided by just one goal.  Six teams, five of them from US Youth Soccer’s Region I, finished the day with records of 2-0 and teams representing the Indiana Youth Soccer Association finished the day 3-7-2.

The 2004 US Youth Soccer National League Director’s Cup, presented by adidas is underway as over 50 teams from across the nation, including 10 from host Indiana, are competing at the Lawrence Soccer Complex just outside of Indianapolis for the cup. 
  
The Director's Cup is the culminating event for the National Leagues operated during the summer, featuring top boys and girls teams in the Under-14 through Under-18 age groups.  Hosted by the Indiana Youth Soccer Association, US Youth Soccer continues its commitment to developing young players, while helping to ensure the future success of the U.S. National team program with high-level competitions such as the Director’s Cup.

Who is there? The Under-13 through Under-18 boys and girls’ teams who won their respective regional league.  
What happens? Round Robin format with 4 games total – 3 games in the preliminary round and 1 final or third place game in each division and age group.
How much? Admission to the games is free.

The inaugural US Youth Soccer National League Director's Cup, presented by adidas, was a great success in 2003 as the culminating event for the National Leagues operated during the summer, featuring top boys and girls teams in the Under-13 through Under-18 age groups. The Director's Cup is also the first US Youth Soccer national event to include the Under-13 age bracket. With the addition of this age group, US Youth Soccer continues its commitment to developing young players, while helping to ensure the future success of the U.S. National team program.
